Welcome Back!

September1

Welcome back to another school year! I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing summer! I am working on updating my blog for this school year with information about Guidance classes and Eagles with Character.

I have posted the Eagles with Character schedule under the Eagles with Character page. It includes the dates for which we will recognize each character pillar, as well as the dates we will wear the specific color corresponding to that pillar. Our first “color” day is next Wednesday, September 8. We will be wearing green to recognize the character pillar of responsibility. The class with the most people wearing green will get a reward during lunch on Thursday!

Keep checking back for updates on my blog throughout the year. And as always, please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns!

My name is Emily Ricketts and this is my third year as the School Counselor at Eastern. Originally born in Richmond, Virginia, I moved to Blacksburg in 2003 to begin my college career at Virginia Tech. I graduated in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and again in 2009 with a Master of Arts in Counselor Education. Upon graduating, I realized that I had developed a fondness for Southwest Virginia, and decided I was ready to settle down here!
In my spare time I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping, running, and visiting my family in Richmond and Charleston, South Carolina. I love the Hokies and the Phillies, and try to attend as many games as I can each year!

I am so excited to be at Eastern for my third year. It’s hard to believe how quickly the last two years have gone by! I have really enjoyed being here and getting to know all of the students. I am looking forward to working with you and your children in making this another successful year! Please take some time to look through the information and resources I have included on this site that I think you will find helpful. Make sure to continue checking the Guidance Blog, as I will be updating it throughout the year. Please let me know how I can best support you and your child! Don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. I can be contacted through e-mail or phone:
